Use save transformed at the frame that you wish to "detatch" from the
parent. Load the new object up (unparented) and do a one frame dissolve
between the parented, original object and the new detached object. You
could even use Move Pivot point to move the pivoyt point of the save
transfoprmed object to make it easier to fly off....
